In this ongoing series, I turn my lens toward men; some friends and family, others complete strangers, to try and debunk a very prominent issue that men face today. The issue being how to be the “ideal” man. Between advertisements, Hollywood cliches, and the media, we are forced to view masculinity and the “ideal” man through a microscopic lens, and it is extremely harmful. Not every man fits this mold, and it doesn’t make them lesser because of it. Through this series I’m photographing men of all modes to shed light on this ongoing issue.
Landscapes are permanent in some ways, as our national parks exist in the same places they always have, with visitors absorbing their greatness year after year. Yet, in another sense, they are fleeting. Changing with the seasons, burned by forest fires, and treaded through by passers by. As a photographer I often feel it is my duty to make pictures of these landscapes to document how they existed while I was living so that the people to come can see how their landscape has been molded by those of us who came before.
Putting on an event is hard work, and the last thing you should have to worry about is who is documenting it! Whether you’re a big company or a small non for profit, it’s important to document the wonderful events that you plan. Wether it be for your clients, for your sponsors, or for your staff, it is always good to photograph people having fun!
